Course Description:
This course explores the major historical events in the evolution of the Catholic Church, from the Apostolic communities to the Council of Trent. It contextualizes these events within a broad review of Western history. The course topics illustrate how this history relates to the present state of the Church and its relationship to society. The purpose of this course is to build a sound methodology for the historiography of the Catholic Church as the Body of Christ under the leadership of the Holy Spirit.
